ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a visual artist and musician. I like to create work that holds deeply personal references to my relationships with other people as well as with the natural landscapes I pass through. I use my art to help bridge the gap made by the disconnect I feel between my sense of self and the life I perceive surrounding me.
With my visual art, I work primarily as a painter. I like to use a combination of acrylic and oil paints in order to play with texture and interject flat elements in otherwise detail-rich pictures. I use these techniques along with color to create a symbolism of my relationship to the subject. I like to celebrate the beauty of nature and often incorporate celestial symbolism to underscore that we are all just a small part of the fabric of the universe. On the rare occasion that I have spare time, I also dabble in jewelry making and mixed media art.
